Oyo State Government Reaffirms Commitment to Welfare and Development of Corps Members
The Oyo State government, through Governor Seyi Makinde, has reiterated its commitment to ensuring the welfare and safety of Corps members posted to the state for their mandatory one-year service. This statement was made during the closing ceremony for the 2024 Batch C stream 2 Corps members at the NYSC permanent orientation camp in Iseyin. Governor Makinde, represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Wasilat Adegoke, assured that the state government is focused on creating a safe and supportive environment for the Corps members.
Additionally, Governor Makinde encouraged the Corps members to identify and implement impactful projects in their host communities, aimed at promoting development. He also emphasized the importance of self-employment and urged the Corps members to consider job creation after their service year. He reminded them to uphold the NYSC motto of “Service and Humility” and contribute to nation-building.
The Oyo State NYSC Coordinator, Odoba Abel Oche, expressed appreciation for the state government’s continued support, especially in improving Corps members’ welfare. He also appealed to employers to provide adequate support, including accommodation and allowances. Oche encouraged the Corps members to stay committed to their duties and focus on self-development throughout their service year.
