Dr. Adesola Adesote to Join Nigerian Army Team to Document Biography of Late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Lagbaja

The Nigerian Army has appointed Dr. Adesola Adesote, an Associate Professor in the Department of History and International Studies at Osun State University (UNIOSUN), to join a distinguished research team documenting the life and legacy of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, CFR, NAM.

UNIOSUN’s Public Relations Officer, Ademola Adesoji, announced the selection on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, highlighting Dr. Adesote’s expertise in historical documentation and military history. He emphasized that this recognition reflects UNIOSUN’s growing reputation for academic excellence and national contributions.

The biography project, initiated by the Nigerian Army, aims to preserve Lt. Gen. Lagbaja’s legacy as a decorated officer and exemplary leader. The Vice-Chancellor of UNIOSUN, Professor Odunayo Clement Adebooye, praised Dr. Adesote’s selection, reaffirming the university’s commitment to impactful scholarship.

The research, set to last three months, will include archival work, interviews, and collaboration with military historians and strategic analysts. UNIOSUN continues to establish itself as a hub for research that shapes national and global discourse.
