JAMB Confirms No Extension for UTME Registration Deadline
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that it will not extend the registration deadline for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). Registration, which started on February 3, will continue until March 3. Around 2 million candidates are expected to register, with 782,027 already registered in less than two weeks.
JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, expressed satisfaction with the seamless registration process this year, highlighting the absence of typical issues like network failures or power outages. The registration process has been running faster, with a daily registration target of 60,000 candidates. Oloyede confirmed that there would be no extension due to the smooth process and the capacity to register 80,000 candidates daily.
Regarding underage candidates, Oloyede clarified that while the official minimum age for university admission is 16, exceptionally gifted candidates below this age may still register. Additionally, JAMB allows candidates without O’level results to register for the exam if they wish to familiarize themselves with the CBT format.
