Awani Foundation Sponsors 21 Candidates for the 2025 JAMB UTME
Awani Foundation has sponsored 21 candidates to participate in the upcoming Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). This initiative is part of the foundation’s ongoing commitment to academic empowerment and providing equal opportunities for talented students from underprivileged backgrounds.
Selection Process and Beneficiaries
The selected candidates were chosen through a rigorous screening process, overseen by a committee led by Prof. Mary Olire Edema and supported by Mr. Temisan Oki and Dr. Abel Awani. The candidates include members of the Awani Edo family and residents of Ajamimogha, a community with members who are not of Awani descent. The foundation also extended sponsorship opportunities to three additional candidates on compassionate grounds, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to 21.
Impact of the Initiative
The initiative aims to reduce the financial burden of tertiary education entrance exams, providing young students with the resources they need to pursue higher education at universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education across Nigeria. Dr. Kester Awani, the proponent of the foundation, highlighted the importance of education as a tool for societal transformation. He emphasized that through Educate 365, the foundation seeks to empower talented students with the resources to achieve their dreams, regardless of their financial situation.
Commitment to Educational Development
Prof. Mary Olire Edema, Chairperson of the screening committee, praised the initiative, emphasizing the critical role such interventions play in shaping the future of Nigeria’s youth. She expressed confidence in the abilities and aspirations of the selected candidates. The beneficiaries of this initiative, many of whom faced financial challenges in registering for the UTME, expressed immense gratitude for the support and the opportunity to excel in their examinations.
Encouraging Others to Support Education
The Educate 365 initiative is a testament to the foundation’s unwavering commitment to educational development. As the JAMB UTME approaches, these sponsored candidates now have a vital stepping stone toward securing a brighter future. The foundation encourages other philanthropic organizations and well-meaning individuals to support similar initiatives that promote educational growth and national development.
