First Lady Oluremi Tinubu Awards ₦50 Million to Support Female Academic Achievers at JABU

0luremi Tinubu, the First Lady of Nigeria and wife of President Bola Tinubu, has donated ₦50 million to establish an endowment fund for the best graduating female students of Joseph Ayo Babalola University (JABU) in Osun State. This donation was announced during the university’s 15th convocation ceremony, where she was conferred with an honorary doctoral degree.

Represented by Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, the First Lady of Ekiti State, Tinubu highlighted the importance of education for personal and national development. The endowment fund, named the Senator Oluremi Tinubu Prize for Academic Excellence, will reward the best graduating female student with ₦5 million annually for the next 10 years.

This year’s recipient, Mary Ojone Omachi, from the Department of Mass Communication, graduated with a CGPA of 4.88. A total of 626 students graduated during the ceremony, with 50 achieving First Class honors.

The university’s pro-chancellor and vice-chancellor praised the First Lady’s initiative, emphasizing its role in encouraging academic excellence and innovation among female students.
