JAMB Sets Ambitious Target of Over Two Million Registrations for 2025/2026 Exams
The Registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Ishaq Oloyede, has revealed that the board is aiming to register over two million candidates for the 2025/2026 JAMB examinations in Nigeria. Oloyede shared this goal during a press briefing in Ilorin, Kwara State, following his inspection of various JAMB CBT centres in the region.
As of Monday afternoon, a total of 420,674 candidates had already registered for the exams, and 124,632 candidates had signed up for the mock JAMB exams. The number of trial testing candidates stood at 331, while Kwara State alone accounted for 32,435 registrants.
Oloyede further noted that the board’s target is to surpass two million registrations. Additionally, he expressed concerns about the increasing number of underage candidates. By Monday afternoon, 4,997 registrants were found to be below 16 years of age, a figure that was expected to surpass 5,000 by the end of the day.
He criticized parents who encourage their children to register for exams at a young age, stating that such actions were driven by a desire to use their children’s educational progress to enhance their own reputations. “Many parents are misdirecting their children, seeing early education achievements as a way to decorate their CVs,” Oloyede remarked.
