JAMB Takes Action Against Six CBT Centres for Blank Registration
The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Professor Ishaq Oloyede, has announced the suspension of six Computer Based Test (CBT) Centres for engaging in blank registration, a practice meant to facilitate examination malpractices.
Blank Registration Malpractices Identified
While the specific locations of the affected CBT Centres were not disclosed, Oloyede confirmed that the six centres had been involved in blank registration just after the commencement of the online JAMB registration process. The centres were sanctioned immediately after their malpractice was discovered.
“We identified six CBT centres engaged in blank registration shortly after we began the online JAMB registration, so we sanctioned them and placed them on suspension for this week,” Oloyede said during a visit to some CBT Centres in Kwara State.
JAMB’s Decision on Suspension and Consequences
Although the initial plan was to impose a two-week suspension on the centres, JAMB modified the decision, fearing that the candidates would suffer more than the CBT Centres themselves. As a result, the focus shifted to identifying and blacklisting the staff responsible for the malpractice.
“JAMB decided to identify the staff of the institutions that committed the offence and blacklist them. Those blacklisted will never be involved in any JAMB activities in the future, including at CBT centres, and they will also be excluded from academic roles, such as lecturers or vice-chancellors,” Oloyede explained.
Blacklisting Malpractitioners to Ensure Integrity
Oloyede emphasized that any individual involved in examination malpractice would face severe consequences and would no longer be eligible to hold positions in JAMB or other educational institutions.
“Once a student is involved in malpractice during an examination organized by any of the examination bodies, such a person is no longer in good standing with JAMB,” he said.

In conclusion, Oloyede expressed gratitude towards the JAMB staff, CBT centres, and security operatives for their excellent efforts in maintaining the integrity of the examination process.
