Prof. Ahmad Imam Appointed as Acting Vice Chancellor of Nigerian Army University
Prof. Ahmad Imam has been appointed the Acting Vice Chancellor of the Nigerian Army University, Biu, located in Borno State. He has vowed to continue the academic initiatives established by the outgoing Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kyari Mohammed, to ensure ongoing excellence in education.
Commitment to Excellence in Academic Delivery
During his address to the university’s Senate, Prof. Imam reassured staff and the Senate that he would uphold the measures previously implemented by Prof. Kyari Mohammed to maintain the university’s high academic standards. He expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve and emphasized that he would work closely with the newly constituted Governing Council to ensure the smooth running of the university.
Leadership and Priorities Under Imam
Prof. Imam, who hails from the Department of Accounting in the Faculty of Arts and Management Sciences, was elected during the university’s 2nd special Senate meeting. Prior to his new appointment, he held roles as the Director of Research and Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration).
In his new capacity, Prof. Imam emphasized that his leadership would prioritize the welfare of staff and address any ongoing issues concerning the university community. He also extended prayers for the safe return of Prof. Abubakar El-Jummah, who was kidnapped along the Biu-Damboa road, and urged staff to avoid hazardous routes both within and outside the state.
Prof. Kyari Mohammed’s Gratitude and Support
Meanwhile, the outgoing Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kyari Mohammed, expressed his gratitude to the Senate and the university community for their support during his tenure. He also called for similar backing for Prof. Imam to ensure success in his new role.
