Senator Shehu Sani Urges AAUA Student Leaders to Embrace Fairness and Justice

Former Senator Shehu Sani has called on the Student Union Governments of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA), to lead with fairness and justice. Speaking during the Hon. Festus Akingbaso Students’ Legislative Summit, Sani stressed that leadership is an opportunity to serve humanity, not a means to amass wealth.

Delivering his keynote address virtually, Sani encouraged students to learn from the legacy of the university’s namesake, Pa Adekunle Ajasin. He highlighted the decline in public education compared to his generation and urged students to prepare for the challenges of leadership and post-graduation life.

Keynote Highlights

  • Leadership should focus on service, not wealth accumulation.
  • Students should draw inspiration from Pa Adekunle Ajasin’s legacy.
  • Today’s students face greater challenges due to the decline in public education.
Legal practitioner and AAUA alumnus, Mr. Tope Temokun, also spoke at the event, emphasizing the importance of independent student unions as vital pressure groups. He warned against unions losing their purpose by remaining silent in the face of injustice and urged universities to nurture radical intellectuals instead of domesticated leaders.
